CHEHALIS, Wash. -- A Chehalis woman has become the first confirmed swine flu death in Lewis County, according to Lewis County Public Health Department.

The Centralia Chronicle first reported that the woman, in her early 30s, died from swine flu complications more than two weeks ago.

County health officials have not yet confirmed that swine flu was the primary cause of her death. It was not even suspected until an autopsy conducted after she died.

The woman was pronounced dead after her heart stopped unexplainably at Providence St. Peter’s Hospital in Olympia.

The woman suffered other health maladies and was clinically obese, according to the Chronicle report. She was not identified and it was unclear what day she died.
