As Marination Mobile, they were voted America's Best Food Truck by Good Morning America. Now, with a permanent space above the QFC on Broadway, Marination Station is bringing their Hawaiian-Korean fusion fare to Capitol Hill.
During the lunch hour rush, you'll find Portuguese sausage cooking on the grill, the aroma of spicy pork tacos filling the air, and swooning customers lining up for lunch.
Owners Kamala Saxton and Roz Edison recently drummed up some big time attention when their food truck Marination Mobile won contests sponsored by both Good Morning America and Evening Magazine's Best of Western Washington. Their Capitol Hill location is a response to the only complaint they ever really heard from food truck customers.
"We heard from the regulars from the truck that, 'Wow, on a rainy day, it would be nice not to stand in line for a half an hour' or 'It would be nice to come with my family outside the 11-2 working hours,'" said Kamala.
Now, open until 8 pm, Marination Station serves up kimchi fried rice with a sunny side up fried egg in a takeout box ($5.50), Portugese sausage musubi and the perennial favorites sliders (with your choice of shredded kalua pork or SPAM) and spicy pork tacos ($2.25 each).
Marination Station gets crowded during lunch time, so be prepared to eat outside.
