Evening Magazine’s Kim Holcomb is a big fan of happy hours in general, but Toulouse Petit is her all-time favorite. And they do a little twist on it - they have a breakfast happy hour.
New Orleans Americana is the central theme of the menu at the lower Queen Anne restaurant. Toulouse Petit boasts an extensive menu with ridiculously good choices: house-smoked salmon, brioche pain perdu, bacon wrapped pate and heavenly beignets.
“We think a good menu creates dilemmas,” Brian Hutmacher, owner of Toulouse Petit. “If you look at a menu and there are four or five things you want to try and you have to choose one, that's a good problem to have."
And at happy hour prices, you can afford to try it all. Every gourmet dish is $8 or less. Morning cocktails are a bit extra, but well worth it.
It’s a rare dining experience where you leave feeling like you’ve got more than you paid for.
"In our world of a lot of mass produced commercialized things, every bit of this restaurant, wherever you look, somebody had to put energy into making it that way,” said Hutmacher.
It all helped make Toulouse Petit one of Trip Advisers top 10 restaurants in the world for 2012.
"They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. We agree, and we're trying to enhance that experience, right?" said Hutmacher.
