The newest Iron Chefs may just be coming from Whidbey Island.
Chef Scott Frazier has been a mentor for the Oak Harbor High School culinary arts class for nine years. This year, the school's culinary team 2nd place at a national competition where they had one hour to cook a meal with two gas burners.
Oak Harbor has a proud tradition of doing well in cooking competitions. One year, the culinary arts teacher promised the class she'd get a tattoo if they won at state. She now sports a wildcat in a chef's hat on her arm.
Some of the students continue their education outside of the classroom working at Frazier's restaurant, where they get to work with fresh, local ingredients.
