SEATTLE - A great place to dine if you believe in dessert first (and we do) is A la Mode Pies in West Seattle.
Owner/Chef Chris Porter was once a TV reporter, but since he was young, he has always had a talent as a pie maker.
So in 2010 he started up A la Mode Pies as an online custom pie shop. And in 2011, Porter opened up a storefront in Phinney Ridge. His pies are so popular he's now got a second location: this brand new cafe in West Seattle.
“We create pies and tarts that look as good as they taste – no sprinkles, frosting or grocery store gimmicks. Quite simply, exceptional pie – the kind Mom would be proud to serve,” said Porter via A la Mode’s website.
Apple pies are big at this time of the year and Chris has a fancy apple peeling contraption at his shops to help get the process moving faster. The shop is also accepting pre-orders for Thanksgiving pies.
They also offer boozy milkshakes at A la Mode. Yes, alcoholic milkshakes. It doesn't get any more decadent than that.
The new West Seattle location offers sweet and savory pies in addition to a beer and wine menu. The café is open daily from 8AM to 10PM, Friday and Saturday until 11PM.
On the Menu:
- Holiday Pumpkin Pie
- Bourbon Butterscotch Pie
- Shepherd’s Pie
- BBQ Pork Hand Pies
