MONROE, WASH. - What better way to celebrate the Year of the Goat than by spending the day at the New Moon Farm Goatalympics watching goats and their people compete in foot races, obstacle courses and more?
Prepare to laugh a lot, as competitors young and old vie for victory, ribbons and bragging rights. Take your guess as to who will win Best Trick, Most Spots, Longest Beard among other exciting contests. Vote in the People's Choice Awards for Adult and Youth costume contests.
Every year attendance grows. Contestants range in age from 4 to 64.
"We've been training for the Goatalympics for months – bring on the competition," said Shelly, an adult competitor.
The Goatalympics is nothing like your grandmother's county fair. It's all about fun, not about breeding or conformation.
What could be more fun than watching middle-aged women try to convince their goats to negotiate an obstacle course? Musical Chairs, with goats, is a whole new game. Last year's "Best Costume" – a group of petite pirates and their goaty sailing vessel - was a sight to see!
In addition to goat contests, as always, there will be a raffle and silent auction.
There will be adorable, adoptable goats for people to meet. Several photographers will be on site as well, covering the fun from every angle and photos will be available online after the event.
