What have you been up to since Almost Live ended?
After dropping dead of sudden cardiac arrest on the set of "Almost Live!" in front of a studio audience (I did finish taping the show, first, what a pro!) I received requests to share my shocking - literally shocking - and humorous experience of resuscitation and living with heart disease. I've offered the presentations "Drop Dead Gorgeous!" and "Dead: Been There, Done That" across the United States and in Europe since 2002 through my company, Tracey Conway Speaking, Inc. and was even invited to be on Oprah to share the story. My grateful, irreverent attitude is, "Cross my heart, and hope to die laughing!"
What was your favorite Almost Live sketch?
That's like being asked which is your favorite child. Here is what comes to mind: Smartest comedy: "Hangman," "Folks Songs of the Slightly Inebriated" and "Wally Hoagland: Crappy Cult Leader." Most fun to perform: "Classic Conversation: Oh My God," "Where Were You" (both with Nancy Guppy) and "Cool Dying Olympics." Favorite sketch I wrote/produced: "Natural Dog." Best Northwest sketch: "Fugitive in Seattle" or "Ballard Driving Academy." Overall Best-In-Show: "GreenRiverdance" and "The Terminator."
What is your best Almost Live memory?
Probably sitting around the writer's table during pitch sessions listening to Bob Nelson read his scripts or laughing at sketch ideas/jokes we came up with that we would never be allowed to put on the air. That, or group viewings of "The Larry Sanders Show" or "The Sopranos." Best job EVER! Hard work, but impossible to top getting paid to laugh and hang all day with funny, talented people who became dear pals.
