Recess Monkey building strong Seattle following

SEATTLE - During the school day they're mild-mannered teachers, helping kids explore the basics.
But there's another side to Jack Forman, Drew Holloway and Daron Henry, a teaching trio from Giddens School and University Child Development School.
They're better known to the younger set as "Recess Monkey."
The band has played together for years and now has found a niche entertaining the same demographic they educate. The two worlds are not so different they say.
"We love kids. This is what we do as a profession. We're all teachers. We love kids' ideas. Their ideas are just unbelievable…. They've helped us think of these great ideas for songs and stories too." Forman said. "I guess they're our muse."

It all started with a graduate school project of Drew's and expanded with music summer camps for kids. They're big-time now, with CDs and T-shirts and everything.
"We like to think our gigs are really just a chance to take our classroom and really stretch it out," Forman said. "Sure they're 6, 7 and 8 years old, but they defy the stereotype that Seattle doesn't know how to rock."
The trio's last adult rock and roll band was called "Waiting Room" and their album was titled "The Seven Stages of Grief." It sold 100 copies.
They say Recess Monkey is a touch lighter and a lot more fun - and selling a lot better too.
