SEATTLE – William H. Gates Hall is the new home of the University of Washington School of Law.

It was dedicated in a ceremony Friday with its namesake – a UW law school graduate, regent and father of Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates. He donated $12 million toward the $80-million building.

The 47-year-old son spoke at the ceremony and recalled going on the university campus as a high school student to use the computers. He says he's happy to help provide another building for the UW campus.

William H. Gates says he can't think of any way of being more honored than having the new UW law building named after him.

Former New York Governor Mario Cuomo and Governor Locke also spoke at the dedication of the six-story building in Seattle.
