MALAYAN TIGER: Range and Habitat
The Malayan tiger is endemic to southern and central Malay Peninsula. This includes only peninsular Malaysia and its border area with the southern tip of Thailand. On the Malay Peninsula, streams and rivers cut through vast tropi-cal and sub-tropical rain forests which extend from lowlands to over a mile high. The heat, humidity and rainfall promote high diversity of life including many tiger prey species. While mangrove swamps line the west coast of the peninsula, the Malayan tigers mostly inhabit the lowland forests.
