Seattle’s Summer Heats up with 6th Annual SLU Block Party – Friday, Aug. 13!
Have you been in South Lake Union lately? With the opening of Amazon.com’s new headquarters and the addition of new restaurants in the area such as Flying Fish and Re:public, SLU’s streets are filled with more people and a growing sense of community. This fast-growing and much talked about neighborhood continues to buzz with activity…and this summer is no exception!
On Friday, August 13 from 12:00PM – 11:00PM, don’t miss the neighborhood’s biggest party of the year – the 6th annual SLU Block Party presented by Microsoft. It’s a free event featuring a full day of outdoor summertime fun and entertainment for all ages, with festivities taking place on the lawn outside the SLU Discovery Center (101 Westlake Ave. N & Denny Way).
You’ll meet new and familiar faces from South Lake Union and beyond while enjoying mouth-watering food from local neighborhood eateries, a Cascade Farmers Market, beer garden, wine tasting, kids activities, an outdoor movie under the stars (screening of Zombieland and Thriller) and more! Proceeds from this year’s Block Party will benefit Historic Seattle (www.historicseattle.org), the only nonprofit dedicated to preserving Seattle and King County’s architectural legacy.
