EVERETT, Wash. -- Four days until the KING 5 Summer Hunger Challenge and already donations are piling up in preparation for the food drive.

At North Middle School in Everett, students are collecting food donations that will end up at one of the drop off locations on Friday. The effort is also a part of Rachel's Challenge, the national effort to create a chain of kindness among others.

"I think we are going to feed a lot of families this summer," said eighth grader Alma Vivna Logerfo. she is one of the students collecting donations this week at school and around the community.

The need for food is especially great at North Middle School itself, where 68 percent of students are on the free and reduced lunch program because those families fall below the poverty line.

There are several ways to donate to the Hometeam Summer Hunger Challenge. Click here to donate online at the Northwest Harvest website, or donate a quick $10 by texting HOMETEAM to 85944.

There are also four locations accepting drop-off donations between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Friday, June 10:

    * Everett Mall
    * Northgate Mall
    * Redmond Town Center
    * Tacoma Mall
