KING 5 News Wins at 5:00A, 6:00A, 5:00P, 6:30P, Late News

Seattle, WA - February's sweeps show once again that KING 5 is the most watched station in Western Washington in the highly valuable advertising demo of Adults 25-54 (M-F) for early morning, evening, and late newscasts.

"The news stories of February were difficult. The horrific Josh Powell story, deadly avalanches, an accidental elementary school shooting, and a fallen state trooper," said Mark Ginther, Executive News Director, KING 5. "Our news team reports these tragic stories with professionalism and sensitivity and that's what people have come to expect from KING 5."

MORNINGS

People in the Western Washington start their early mornings with KING 5. In some cases, the audience for KING 5 news was greater than that of at least two competitors.

  • At 5:00A, KING 5 News beat the combined audience of KOMO and KCPQ.
  • At 6:00A, KING 5 News beat any two station combination of KOMO, KIRO or KCPQ.

EVENING NEWS

In the crowded news race at 5:00 PM, KING 5 is clearly the front runner, beating KIRO and KCPQ combined. Ellen's talk show takes the top spot at 4:00 - a nice lead-in to KING's 5P News. KING 5 also finishes in first place at 6:00-7:00 PM, a winning combination of NBC News with Brian Williams followed by KING 5 News at 6:30 with Jean Enersen and Dennis Bounds.

LATE NEWS

KING 5 won the overall late news covering newscasts from 10:00 PM - 11:30 PM. The win in Adults 25-54 for the late newscasts comes at a time when the lead-in on NBC is down. The exception is NBC's "The Voice" on Monday's - the number one prime time network program (excluding specials) in America - beating the once dominant American Idol at its own game.
