Seattle, WA – KING 5 is the 2011 Station of the Year in the West as announced by the National Press Photographers Association (NPPA). Last year the NPPA awarded KING 5 with the prestigious honor of large market Station of the Year, beating every big market station in the United States. 

Competition included KING’s sister station in Portland (KGW), two Denver stations (KUSA, KDVR), and KLAS in Las Vegas. KING 5 took first place with 43% of the overall votes among top pool stations in the west.      

Individual honors for west regional photographer of the year go to KING 5’s Jeffrey Christian. This achievement stays in the KING 5 family for the second consecutive year. Christian’s KING 5 co-worker, Douglas Burgess won the same distinction last year. In fact, five of the top ten photographers in NPPA’s 2011 west region are KING 5 photographers.

The NPPA’s western region includes Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Alaska and Hawaii.
