KING 5 Hires Director of Digital Media
Entrepreneur, author, journalist joins award-winning news site
KING5.com beats every media site in Seattle for adults 25 to 54 monthly
Seattle, WA – Mark Briggs joins KING 5 as the new Director of Digital Media. Briggs comes to KING 5 from Serra Media LLC, a company he co-founded and served as CEO. Serra Media, LLC is based in Seattle and provides software support for hyper-local media websites. Prior, Briggs held management positions in digital media at the Tacoma News Tribune and the Everett Herald. He’s the author of two books, Journalism 2.0 and Journalism Next and has worked at Seattle University as an adjunct professor. He is also a current Fellow at the Poynter Institute, a school dedicated to teaching and inspiring journalists and media leaders.

Mark Briggs is a Coeur d'Alene, Idaho native and a graduate of Gonzaga University. He earned an M.A. in Journalism and Mass Communications from the University of North Carolina.
Joining Briggs in managing the KING 5 websites is John Goff in his new role as Manager of Digital Operations. Goff has been with KING5.com for ten years working as a reporter, writer, and various news management positions.
KING5.com is the number one media site in Seattle for adults in the 25 to 54 age range monthly. For adults 18 and older, KING5.com is the top broadcast site in the Seattle area over the past thirty days, reaching more than 850,000 online viewers.
In April, KING5.com won a regional Edward R. Murrow Award for best web site. For the February 2010 sweeps, which included the Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, B.C., KING 5 online was the clear web favorite. The KING5.com Ozone website finished in first place among all top twenty-five DMA’s and third place for all NBC stations nationwide. And recently, the Society of Professional Journalists of the Pacific Northwest honored KING5.com with a third place award for best web design in its online category.
