SEATTLE— Each year the American Jewish Committee honors a member of our community for professional endeavors and career achievements that contribute to enhancing human dignity.  This week, the AJC’s highest honor, the Human Relations Award, was bestowed on KING 5 President and General Manager, Ray Heacox.  The ceremony was held at the Grand Hyatt Seattle, co-chaired by Jim and Gaylee Duncan, Alayne Sulkin, Publisher of ParentMap, and Gary Kaplan, M.D. Chairman and CEO of Virginia Mason Health System. 

According to AJC Seattle Regional Director Wendy Rosen, “Ray is receiving this award from AJC because of the significant impact he has made on the betterment of life in Seattle and around the world. Our organization shares so many important values with Ray, including a dedication to creating community, establishing dialogue and building bridges He is a gifted leader and civic champion who has uplifted our community and the world around us.”

"I'm honored that an organization with such high standards for community service as AJC felt me worthy of this recognition,” Ray Heacox said upon accepting his award. “I am just one part of an incredible team at KING 5 that works harder in support of the community than anyplace I have ever been. With our strong commitment to journalism that matters and our dedication to community service I know we make a difference.  I owe this to my teammates and my wife Cynthia who are my motivation to try and make our corner of the world a better place to live."

Several members of “The Home Team” from KING 5 attended the Gala Dinner and award presentation in addition to community partners and business leaders from throughout Western Washington.
