AUBURN, Wash. -- They make beautiful music together. But an Auburn elementary school may be known more what they haven't brought to their performances, until now.

Hear them perform "It's All Good," and there's no doubt the Gildo Rey Elementary School Choir has rhythm, they have music, yet they needed something more.

To know what's missing you have to go back a year, to Auburn's district-wide Choral Concert. The fifth graders at Gildo Rey performed beautifully, singing in unison, just not in uniform like the choir kids from all the other schools.

So a former student here at Gildo Rey took it upon himself to make sure every kid in the future would have a uniform to wear at their next choral performance. Adam Berry, 13, was at last year's concert, where an idea was born.

"I thought it was a good idea for my Eagle Scout project to get them matching shirts," said Berry.

So Adam got to work this summer. After two months of pounding the pavement and pressing the flesh, he was able to collect $800, enough to buy 68 royal blue monogrammed polo shirts. The end result was more than just what money can buy.

Teri Churchill, Gildo Rey's choir teacher for almost ten years, says Adam Berry is an inspiration.

"It shows the kids that you can work hard and there's something beyond ourselves," she said.

Adam got to see the choir singing in their new shirts, and says they've never sounded better.

"I think it gives them some more confidence in their singing, makes them feel more professional," he said.

Gildo Rey will perform in this year's district-wide choir concert in their brand new uniforms on October 18.
