A $5,000 grant awarded to the Feral Cat Spay/Neuter Project will enable the completion of more than 250 spay/neuter surgeries for kittens of low-income residents or feral or free-roaming kittens.
The money for the grant from the Washington Federation of Animal Care and Control Agencies was made possible by the sale of Washington State “We Love Our Pets” license plates.
Revenue from the sale of the license plates has been earmarked through an agreement with the State of Washington for spay/neuter surgeries for dogs and cats.
Since the sale of the “We Love Our Pets” license plates began in 2006, more than $230,000 in grant funds have been awarded, enabling the completion of nearly 9,000 spay/neuter surgeries.
The license plate features cartoon characters designed by artist and author Brian Bassett, ("Red and Rover").
