VCA Animal Hospitals announced that VCA Redmond Animal Hospital and other nearby hospitals in the Western Washington area are offering free boarding assistance for small animals, including dogs, cats, birds and pocket pets, whose families have lost their homes or are among those evacuated due to the Taylor Bridge fire in Central Washington.

The fire broke out Monday at a bridge construction project and exploded through dry grass, brush and trees.
Authorities say 48 residential properties and 15 other structures were lost in the fire and hundreds of people have been evacuated.

“We are extending free boarding for small family pets that have been displaced because of this devastating fire,” said Art Antin, Chief Operating Officer of VCA Animal Hospitals. “We want families to know that their pets can be cared for in a safe environment, while they manage their personal priorities.”

Boarding assistance at participating western Washington VCA hospitals is based on space availability. Pets should be current on vaccinations, but in case they are not, VCA veterinarians will update vaccinations free of charge. Pet owners are encouraged to call the VCA Redmond Animal Hospital at 425-885-1476 for boarding assistance and more information. The hospital is located at 17980 NE Union Hill Road, Redmond, WA 98052.

In addition to VCA Redmond Animal Hospital, the following VCA hospitals are also offering free boarding and minor medical care to displaced small animals, such as treatment of stable conditions and superficial injuries like minor burns or wounds.
