Seattle-based pet insurance provider Trupanion has announced it will now offer therapeutic and preventative pet foods and nutritional supplements for pets as part of their core coverage benefit. The company says these benefits will be available to current and future policyholders.
The coverage will include the cost of the therapeutic pet food for two months, along with the cost of dietary supplements that are recommended by the veterinarian. Therapeutic pet foods and nutritional supplements are defined as those that are believed to improve the health of pets affected by ailments including skin and/or joint problems.
In addition, Trupanion has entered into an agreement with Hill’s Pet Nutrition by offering a complete line of therapeutic and wellness foods, such as the Hill’s Prescription Diet pet foods and Science Diet Healthy Advantage pet food.
