The world’s longest domestic cat - Stewie - has been diagnosed with cancer.

His owner, Robin Hendrickson, says via her webpage that on Christmas Day, Stewie was taken to the animal emergency center with a swollen right eye. An exam showed a mass.

After an article about Stewie ran in the Reno Gazette Journal, someone at Eye Care for Animals offered to have a look at Stewie. They determined that Stewie has a cancerous mass behind his eye. A biopsy scheduled for Tuesday will determine what the treatment will be.

In 2010, Stewie became famous worldwide when he made the Guiness Book of World Records for being the world’s longest cat at 48.5-inches.

The 7-year-old Maine Coon is a certified therapy cat that visits care facilities and helps with adoption events at the Nevada Humane Society.
