There is outrage around the world today after Lennox, a Belfast dog that was deemed to be a public danger, was put to death.
Reports say Lennox was a beloved family pet who never had bitten anyone and never caused any harm.
The Belfast City Council said Lennox met the criteria for the U.K.'s dangerous dogs law that bans the ownership of pit bulls or dogs similar to them.
An online "Save Lennox" petition and social media campaigns with tens of thousands of followers sparked protests in Belfast and New York seeking his freedom.
Pet Health Network is one of those mourning the loss of Lennox. They are angered at the treatment of pit pulls are calling for an end pit bull executions.
“We continue to make this Lennox's day on Pet Health Network in honor of him and all the other persecuted dogs around the world,” they write on Facebook.
“Adopt your next pet. And consider adopting a pit bull; far too many languish in shelters. “
