An online "Save Lennox" petition and social media campaigns with tens of thousands of followers sparked protests in Belfast and New York seeking his freedom.

Pet Health Network is one of those mourning the loss of Lennox. They are angered at the treatment of pit pulls are calling for an end pit bull executions.

“We continue to make this Lennox's day on Pet Health Network in honor of him and all the other persecuted dogs around the world,” they write on Facebook.

“Adopt your next pet. And consider adopting a pit bull; far too many languish in shelters. “
