After years of planning, KDOG - Kirkland Dog Off-Leash Group, has finally opened their off-leash dog park.

Jasper's Dog Park is the work of volunteers and park sponsors including the Petco Foundation and Microsoft Matching Gifts Program.

The 8-acre park in the Totem Lake area was built by members of KDOG, with the help of local volunteer groups and the City of Kirkland Department of Parks and Recreation.

Park maintenance and improvements will be supported entirely by donations from businesses and individuals.

KDOG says about 40 percent of Kirkland residents own dogs.

"You can’t go anywhere in Kirkland without seeing people out with their dogs, and Kirkland is very fortunate to have such strong support for this project from local businesses.  We are grateful for their commitment to this project and it helped to energize our work party volunteers,” said Jean Guth, KDOG President.

Jasper’s Park is located at 11225 NE 120th Street. It's open from dawn until dusk.
