Relief efforts are underway to help animals in the Joplin, Missouri tornado zone.
A Joplin tornado lost/found pets Facebook page has been set up to help people reunite with their beloved pets.
PetSmart Charities says they have dispatched two Emergency Relief Waggin’ vehicles to Joplin.
The vehicles are each stocked with $80,000 worth of pet food and supplies, and will assist the hundreds of pets who were injured or displaced by storms.
They say the program assisted 7,650 pets with food, supplies and temporary shelter after the recent tornados in Tennessee and surrounding areas.
Doggyloot.com, a deal site for dogs, is holding a fundraiser that will give doggyloot members the opportunity to donate to the Joplin Humane Society (www.joplinhumane.com) to assist in the group’s relief efforts for animals. Donations can be made in $10 increments and all of the proceeds will go directly to the Joplin Humane Society. As of Thursday they have raised more than $3,800.
The Humane Society of the United States is preparing to send staff, equipment and support to Joplin.
