"Glee" star Chris Colfer has adopted an adult cat from the West Valley Animal Shelter and is urging his fans to give an animal a home.

Colfer made his announcement via Twitter on Wednesday.

"His name is Brian, he's 8 years-old and 20 pounds," Colfer said.

Brian had been surrendered in late March by a previous owner, UPI reported.

A technician at the shelter said not many people adopt older cats.

"It was heartbreaking to see so many sweet animals needing homes. Please think about rescuing!" Colfer Tweeted.
