Veteran’s Day is Friday, and you can help a veteran by taking in the dog or cat of a deployed or wounded soldier while he or she is away from home.

Guardian Angels for Soldier’s Pet was developed to assist personnel in the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard - including activated National Guard and Reservists.

The group helps soldiers who have not been able to find a friend or family member who can take in the pets.

The program is open to members of the military across the country.

Guardian Angels takes pets when their owner is deployed in a combat or peacekeeping or humanitarian mission or has come upon an unforeseen hardship (medical, homelessness).

There is no fee for providing the service, but the pet’s owner is responsible for the cost of food and care that they normally would be responsible for if not deployed.
