A dog that was rescued from a hot car at Wild Waves Theme park on Sunday managed to slip away from Animal Services officers and a search has been launched to find her.

Federal Way Police say on Sunday they received a report that a chihuahua had been locked in a van for hours.

When the Animal Services Officer arrived he found the dog in distress due to the heat, and when they inserted a thermometer through a cracked window they found the inside temperature of the van was over 130 degrees.

Officers removed the dog and a warning was placed on the vehicle for the owners and the dog, Sury, was transported to the Tacoma Humane Society for temporary placement.

When the Animal Services Officer was attempting to transfer Sury from the truck to the building, she escaped under the fence.

Federal Way Animal Services has enlisted Missing Pet Partnership to help find Sury.

If you have information regarding Sury's whereabouts, contact the Federal Way Police Department, 253-835-6735.
