Alec Friedman made the video in tribute to his beloved cat Rocky, who died at age 17.
The short is a finalist in the Fresh Step Catdance Film Festival (a take-off on the Sundance Film Festival). The Festival features the best in original, scripted cat-inspired shorts.
Friedman says he used home video, still photographs, original music, and cartoon drawings by Katie Cook, a comic artist who has done work for Lucasfilm Ltd., Marvel, and the Jim Henson Co.
The video incorporates screen capture to bring the drawings to life in telling Rocky's story from day one until his passing.
