A group of "comfort dogs" is headed to Boston to help people affected by the bombings at the Boston Marathon.

The Lutheran Church Charities K9 Comfort Dogs Addie Comfort Dog and sister Maggie Comfort Dog, who both served Newtown, Conn. and Sandy Hook Elementary School after the shootings there, will be working with First Lutheran Church of Boston, which is located several blocks away from the finish line of the Boston Marathon race.

Rev. Ingo Dutzmann, Pastor of First Lutheran Church of Boston, asked that the LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs be there for those in the community who are shaken up from the bombings.

The church says the dogs will be giving comfort starting Wednesday and will attend an FLC Memorial Service on Friday, April 19  at noon, as well as both Sunday morning services.

The team of Golden Retrievers also responded to Hurricane Sandy and the tornado in Joplin, Mo.
