Great news from Seattle Humane Society.  Eighteen-year-old Sheena the cat, who spent more than a year in Seattle Humane's care,  was adopted yesterday!

Sheena was surrendered in January of 2011 by her owners, who said they were moving and couldn't take her along.

Seattle Humane staff says the spunky kitty quickly became a favorite. She even kept staff company in their offices.

Sheena recently celebrated her 18th birthday in SHS care - with cupcakes and party hats.

Fifteen-year-old Cassie Garcia saw Sheena on the website and decided she was the kitty for her. The next day, Cassie's mom and siblings visited Sheena at the shelter and decided to adopt her to surprise Cassie.

SHS says "All of the staff at Seattle Humane couldn’t be happier for Sheena. The family who adopted her clearly understands how special she is – a one-of-a-kind kitty who deserves no less than the great home she has gone to. Sheena was a little ray of sunshine for our Administrative staff and as much as we will miss her, we are thrilled that she now has a family (besides her SHS family) to give her as much love as she exudes!"
