If you're looking for a fun way to volunteer this summer, here is a great opportunity!
The Seattle-based Austin Foundation is recruiting troops to help out along the Ragnar Relay course July 23rd - 24th.

The Austin Foundation believes that kids who have a healthy, active lifestyle are more likely to develop both socially and emotionally.  Under the guidance of founder, Willie Austin they offer underpriveledged youth access to fitness training, a safe exercise environment and nutrition programs.  Check out their work at http://www.youthandfitness.org/

The Austin Foundation is a cause well worth supporting and the Ragnar Relay is event well worth attending!

I had the pleasure of participating in the first and second annual Ragnar Relay events in Washington State, and can attest to just how much fun it is.  The race is 190 miles, winding through Western Washington's spectacular landscape.  From Bellingham, across Deception Pass and down Whidbey Island to my home town, Langley, on the south end.  Each team is made up of 12 runners who are on the course one at a time, in three complete rotations until they reach the finish line.  I was runner #9 on the "Muffin Tops" team and had one of the most memorable racing experiences of my life.

As the race lasts all night long, volunteers are critical.  For every volunteer the Austin Foundation recruits, they'll receive $120.00!
