The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s WA/AK Chapter added the sport of rowing to their Team In Training (TNT) program event line-up.
The country’s first ever inaugural TNT rowing team competed at the USRowing Masters Regional Championships this past weekend in Vancouver, WA. The team of 12, who happen to be all women, have been training since March at the Pocock Rowing Center. They practiced twice a week for 2 hours at a time and were coached by Tiffany Knapp, a former TNT participant herself.
The team placed 6th in the women’s novice 8+ and 5th in the women’s open A 8+ categories. However, their biggest accomplishment was that they raised $40,000 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for the fight against blood cancers. The Pocock Rowing Foundation was generous enough to support this team by partially off-setting their rowing fees.
