About Music Matters
Music Matters is a self-perpetuating fundraising program designed to help support school music programs through sales of a distinctive music-themed license plate, available through the Washington State Department of Licensing.
About Music Aid Northwest
Music Aid Northwest's mission is to provide funds for people in need by bringing business and community organizations together with the talent and resources of the Northwest music industry. Through our charitable efforts, we have sought to enhance and promote music awareness and performance throughout the region.
About Play It Forward
The Play It Forward II concert was held in February 2011 when founding members of Heart Roger Fisher, Mike Derosier, and Steve Fossen, along with drumming icon Alan White (Yes, Plastic Ono Band, George Harrison), Randy Hansen, Geoffrey Castle, and a host of other well-known local musicians joined together and blew the doors off a sold-out house at Big Daddy’s Place in Woodinville.
The event raised public awareness as well as thousands of dollars for music education.
MAN board member and performer, Alan White:
“Music plays an integral part in our society and is proven to be invaluable in the lives of children and the education of our youth. Music Aid Northwest is working to raise awareness of this fact and this event is part of that effort. Join us in supporting the Washington Music Educators Association in helping to make this opportunity available to all students in Washington State.”
MAN VP and internationally renowned musician, Reek Havok:
“Support for music education is at the heart of what Music Aid Northwest is all about. Many of us and other musicians throughout the area got out start with exposure to music in school. Unfortunately, funding for music education and appreciation has been severely cut over the years and this is our way to help support the continuation and reintroduction of these programs.”
