On February 18 I got my "One Gallon Pin" from the Puget Sound Blood Center and I was THRILLED. It took about a year and three months for me to reach this milestone. But it will be a while before I catch up with my Dad -- he's a member of the Ten Gallon Club back in Hawaii!
I decided to become a donor because my husband and many friends have benefitted from blood donations during medical procedures. A woman I met at the "juice and cookie" bar at the Blood Center said it was her "community service." That's a neat way to look at it. A simple act that could help save a life.
