It was a gorgeous evening at the Newcastle Golf Club (this place offers THE best view of Puget Sound) as generous hearts gathered to raise money for a wonderful cause. After a midday golf scramble, a silent and live auction continue the fund raising cause. And what a great cause it is.
The Puget Sound Blood Center and the Bleeding Disorder Foundation of Washington combine forces to provide a special summer camp experience for kids who are sometimes otherwise too fragile to attend.
The proceeds from the live auction go directly to fund Camp IV-y, a camp where children can gather for support and fun in a safe environment. Camp staff are trained to handle the medical needs of the campers. That means parents can rest easy knowing their children are in good hands.
Though no one in my immediate family suffers from a bleeding disorder, the executive director of the BDFW and her family are friends of mine. Her son suffers from Hemophilia. Once you meet this kid, you're hooked to do whatever you can to make a difference.
The live auction was indeed a success! Items like Sounders soccer clinics, summer vacations, top notch wine, and fancy dessert went for big bucks!
It is so amazing to see the willingness of the community (your neighbors and mine) to reach out and help kids.
Keep an eye out for the event next year, you're sure to enjoy every moment of it!
