The Washington Beer Blog is proud to present the 2nd annual Craft Beer + Food: an event showcasing the Seattle area’s finest craft beer and cuisine. Featuring delicious dishes from ten of the Seattle area’s best restaurants paired with beautiful beers from ten of the Seattle area’s best breweries. The event takes place September 19th at the Lake Union Yacht Club.
Pairings from last year’s event included salmon steamed with red curry paired with Saison, a Belgian-style ale. Another favorite was the pressed-pork crostini dusted with sugar and browned with a flame, then topped with a slice of preserved radish, micro-basil and a mustard-pork reduction. Served on a silver spoon and paired with a Belgian-style ale that was infused with an herb called angelica, this was a match made in heaven.
This year’s participating breweries include American Brewing, Fremont Brewing, Two Beers Brewing, Pike Brewing, Elysian Brewing, Two Beers Brewing, Odin Brewing, Port Townsend Brewing, and Georgetown Brewing. Participating restaurants include Matt’s in the Market, Italianissimo, Emmer&Rye, Quinn’s Pub, Triple Door, Ray’s Boathouse, Ravish on Eastlake, and Trellis.
Even better than the food and beer pairings, all the proceeds support a good cause. This delicious event is a benefit for the Just Garden Project. Proceeds will help build subsidized food gardens for low income families in their homes and to educate new gardeners on growing, preparing and preserving their bounty. Come and bring some extra cash for the balloon raffle, local businesses are donating over 35 items that can be yours at the pop of a $10 balloon. Craft Beer + Food equals a more self-sufficient local food system. What’s not to love?
