Holidays are supposed to be happy times, but they can be among the most difficult for kids in foser care. Nearly 10,000 children in our state live in foster care and about 1,400 are ready to be adopted.

11-year-old Darrianne is hoping to find a family of her own this holiday season. Because of medical issues at birth, she wasn't expected to make it past infancy, but she's made every developmental milestone. She's a fighter with a great attitude, considering she's on dialysis four days a week. She's on a kidney transplant waiting list.

She's fun and sweet and has an energy that will fill the room.
