Speaking on behalf of the KING 5 Community Relations department, I can tell you we're looking forward to Earth Day with renewed interest this year.
Seattle magazine has joined forces with REI and the Green Seattle Partnership to host the Earth Day 5K on April 20th, 2013 and KING 5 will be there as well.
We hope to raise awareness for "green" stewardship in Seattle, by inviting athletes of all skill levels to run or walk a beautiful route along downtown Seattle's waterfront.
Runners will enjoy breathtaking views of the Olympic Mountain Range and wind through Olympic Sculpture Park before returning to Bell Harbor for post-race festivities, including a sustainable beer garden featuring New Belgium Brewing.
Participants in Seattle magazine's Earth Day 5K will have an opportunity to make a direct impact on their community. Proceeds from the race will benefit the Green Seattle Partnership, which works to restore local parks threatened by invasive species and pollution.
There will be lots of ways to get out and celebrate our stunning little corner of the globe this spring; we hope you will consider making the Earth Day 5k part of your plans.
