The Seattle Art Museum’s “Rembrandt, Van Dyck, Gainsborough: The Treasures of Kenwood House, London” exhibition opens this week!
As long time supporters of SAM, KING 5 is very excited.
The Kenwood House in London contains a collection of Master paintings, which includes works from Rembrandt, Van Dyck and Gainsborough. A companion exhibit, "European Masters: Treasures of Seattle," featuring works from local collectors opens this week as well.
Chiyo Ishikawa, Susan Brotman Deputy Director for Art and Curator of European Painting and Sculpture explains that “this exhibition introduces us to one of the greatest private art collections in Europe, assembled in the astonishingly short period of three years.”
Treasures of Kenwood House and European Masters run from Thursday, February 14 through Sunday, May 19. Members opening events take place this week.
We hope you’ll make SAM a destination this spring, whether you think you know about art or not. This unique collection allows you to see works that have never left Europe, as well as collections from the walls of some friends and neighbors right here in Seattle.
