Spending a school quarter as KING 5’s Community Relations Intern has been an incredible learning experience for me. Being able to work at the most prominent broadcasting station in the Pacific Northwest, along- side the “Home Team”, helped me learn the in and outs of broadcast communication and news stations.
One of my favorite parts about working here was learning just how strong KING 5’s relationship is with the Pacific Northwest community and nonprofit organizations. I had the good fortune of working with some of these nonprofit partners and I got to see the amazing work these organizations are doing in the community. KING 5 has the broadcasting power to reach millions, and it was a very gratifying experience serving as the liaison between these inspiring organizations and KING 5’s broadcasting voice.
As the Community Relations Intern I spent time engaged in many aspects of marketing, PR, and communications, whether it be drafting press releases, organizing promotional and donation items, managing the Facebook page, or updating the community section on the KING 5 website. Consequently, I found myself learning and growing from new experiences every single day.
Being surrounded by such inspiring professionals challenged me to work hard, take initiative, and greatly develop my communication skills. Although my internship has come to an end, I am so incredibly appreciative of my time working here at KING 5. I will look back on this quarter as one of the most important aspects of my college education.
