The date for Home Team Harvest is officially set for Saturday, December 7th - but you can start making a difference for hungry people today!

Safeway stores all over Washington State will begin selling their $10 pre-packed bags of groceries on November 1st and continue through the month of December!

So, what’s in the bags?
For just $10 you’ll provide nutritious and much needed food to people in your own community.

  • Chicken of the Sea Tuna
  • Pantry Essentials Pasta
  • Hunts Pasta Sauce
  • Del Monte Vegetables
  • Skippy Peanut Butter

These are the types of items Northwest Harvest values most, non-perishable and high in protein.
We hope you’ll consider making a contribution to Home Team Harvest this season and Safeway is making it easy to get started right away.

Our goal is to raise 4 MILLION MEALS before the end of the year, so every bag, every donation really counts.

More about Northwest Harvest and hunger statistics in Washington:

  • Northwest Harvest provides more than 1.7 million meals every month to a statewide network of 360 food banks, meal programs and high-need elementary schools in the state of Washington.
  • More than 50% of those Northwest Harvest serves are children and the elderly.
  • The need for food in Washington has doubled since 2008; It currently ranks as the 14th hungriest state in the country, hunger (USDA 2012). In 2011, Washington was in the top six states for fastest-growing rate of hunger.
  • Northwest Harvest is committed to nutrition, purchasing up to 40% of our food to ensure a stable supply of nutritious products, and 70% of what we distribute is fruits and vegetables. We also have programs that fulfill the special nutritional needs of infants, toddlers and school-age children, e.g., Three Squares, Baby Day.
