On Friday, October 1st The Home Team looked more like The Rose Team as men and women alike donned shades of pink for Breast Cancer Awareness.   Thanks to our partners at Susan G Komen for the Cure for their inspiration!

BREAST CANCER INFO:

While Komen recommends that women get mammograms annually beginning at age 40, recent studies suggest that many women in the U.S. are getting their first mammogram later than recommended, not having mammograms at recommended intervals or not receiving appropriate and timely follow-up of positive screening results. This may lead to more advanced tumor size and stage at diagnosis.

Take a look at Komen's recommended mammogram schedule:

  • Have a mammogram every year starting at age 40 if you are at average risk
  • Ask your doctor which screening tests are right for you if you are at a higher risk
  • Have a clinical breast exam at least ever 3 years starting at 20, and every year starting at 40.

Schedule your exam today!  In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Komen Puget Sound is offering special screening events around the Puget Sound area.
