We have a favorite promo on the air right now, have you seen it?  It features KING 5’s own Jesse Jones inviting you to join the Obliteride, a brand new fundraising event for the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
We love the spot because of the way it showcases Jesse’s signature style:  tough, confident, cool – all the things that makes working with him so much fun.  But underneath all that personality is a very important message: “We’re coming after you cancer… ALL of us.”
If your family hasn’t been personally touched by cancer, it might be easy to take for granted that we have one of the world’s preeminent research facilities right in our own backyard.  The scientists and visionaries who will ultimately cure cancer live right here in the pacific northwest and they need our support to get the job done.
Few people realize that research starts with individual donations, the big federal grant dollars come later *after* initial discoveries have been made.
That help will come in many forms.  Obliteride has been out recruiting bike riders, donors and volunteers for months already.  If you haven’t seen Jesse’s promo yet, perhaps you’ve seen the signs, the trolleys or the billboards.
On August 9-11, there will be a blur of orange streaking across Puget Sound, and you are invited to join the ride.
