KING 5 Television is proud to partner once again with Washington’s own statewide food network, Northwest Harvest, for our annual summer food and fund drive.
Our goal is to help the roughly 40 percent of children who receive free and reduced meals during the school year, but struggle to stay well fed during summer months.
For 2011, we’re taking the campaign a step further and challenging students themselves to be part of bridging that gap.
The Hometeam Summer Hunger Challenge combines the efforts of two campaigns near and dear to our hearts at KING 5: the continuation of a decade long effort to address the needs of hungry people in our state; and the message of Rachel’s Challenge, a program that encourages students to show acts of kindness to one another. As we approach the end of the school year, we have challenged schools in Western Washington and students themselves to get involved.
We are excited that a number of Western Washington Schools are taking on the Hometeam Summer Hunger Challenge!
Individual school food drives are being planned now, the results of which will be delivered to our collection sites on June 10th.
You can be part of the Home Team Summer Hunger Challenge by participating in several ways! Click here to donate online at the Northwest Harvest website, or donate a quick $10 by texting HOMETEAM to 85944.
We also welcome drop-off donations at one of these Western Washington locations between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.:
- Everett Mall
- Northgate Mall
- Redmond Town Center
- Tacoma Mall
See you there!
