Breaking News into the KING 5 Community Relations Department…
Not one, but ALL FIVE Elementary Schools in the Monroe School District are now participating in the KING 5 Summer Hunger Challenge!
That update just confirmed by our friends at Northwest Harvest and we couldn’t be more excited.
Thanks to early support and leadership from Chain Lake Elementary School, Frank Wagner, Freylands, Maltby and Salem Woods Elementary Schools are now also on board. We look forward to seeing representatives from each campus at our food drive on June 1. Of course, Chain Lake has been chosen as one of featured collection sites on that day, so they won’t have far to travel.
They’ll be joined by KING 5 reporter and north sound resident, Jake Whittenberg for a morning of fun and festivities.
We invite the entire community to join us and make a donation to the Summer Hunger Challenge. Your generosity will go a long way to helping kids and families keep nutritious food in their homes despite the lack of school provided meals.
And, in a moment like this, we would be remiss not to mention the inspiration for our Summer Hunger Challenge; Rachel Scott had a theory that if one person could go out of their way to show a little kindness, it would start a chain reaction of the same.
Thank you Chain Lake and the Monroe School District for proving how accurate her theory could be!
