Dozens of volunteers spent Thursday afternoon painting a "family tree" mural at 28th and Jackson -- their effort to turn a Seattle street corner known for gang violence into something a little more family friendly.
When the project is completed, organizers plan to add photographs of people and families living nearby.
The project is a partnership between Urban Artworks and the Central Seattle Drug Free Communities Coalition.
