Simply put, your bulletin board or home office will be incomplete without it!

The KING 5 2014 Weather Calendar has just rolled off the presses and is available for purchase online.

$14.99 + shipping and handling

This is a fun project for KING.
It provides a platform for our meteorologists to work with and support met's of the future.  One dollar of every Washington Weather Calendar purchase will be donated to the American Meteorological Society (AMS) student chapter at the University of Washington.  Current students and members of the AMS Club worked with the staff at KING 5 to provide the seasonal weather information included inside.
Featured write-ups in the 2014 calendar include information on thunderstorm safety, atmospheric rivers/pineapple express, the Northern Lights, and more.

It also gives us an opportunity to showcase some of the amazing photography taking place across Washington State, photos taken by viewers like you!

We are proud to note that the 2014 cover photo winner is one of our own.*   George Stark retired from KING 5 in 2009 after 34 years as a news photographer.

Described by a fellow photojournalist as "a quiet perfectionist," George's work at in the newsroom is remembered well.  “Despite a quiet demeanor and an occasional use of his favorite newsroom phrase, “We’re all doomed,” George Stark was one of the most talented photographers and video editors on an award-winning staff of photojournalists at KING 5 News.”  Ed White, KING 5 Planning Manager

“George & I were a team for years.  Whether he’s photographing a feature story on a hay harvest or a documentary on the rise of gangs, George’s photography captures the heart of a story like no other.  His pictures are compelling and beautiful. But George is never satisfied, which is why he just keeps getting better and better.” Reporter Linda Byron

About life after television, George says “Retirement is a mixed bag of activities…. Tennis, Golf, Travel, New Grandson, and I have found more time to work on perfecting my still photography skills.”

And we’re so thrilled that he is.
Congratulations George!
