Call center seeks to employ 200 in Eugene

Associated Press

EUGENE, Ore. - Enterprise Rent-A-Car plans a call center in downtown Eugene, with recruiters beginning in February to fill 120 full-time and 80 part-time jobs.

Economic development official Jack Roberts says he understands the pay is going to be $13 to $14 an hour, with benefits.

"These are not the highest-paying jobs in the economy, but the people it appeals to are folks who need those jobs and they're often coming out of other customer service or hospitality jobs. It's a great opportunity for folks at that rung," Roberts said.

The privately owned, St. Louis-based company bought out competitors National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car this year.

The merged company had call centers in St. Louis, Charleston, S.C., and Salt Lake City. Covering the late-in-the-day West Coast and Hawaii reservation hours had become a challenge, spokeswoman Christy Conrad said.
