TUKWILA, Wash. – No matter how your money is tied to Wall Street, there’s one thing most of us have in common – the economy is causing people to change their habits.
A new KING 5 News poll finds 76 percent of people have started cutting expenses, including those who are not fearful of losing their jobs.
“Even though I have a secure job, my pay pretty much stays the same and prices keep rising up,” said teacher Bethany Nedelisky.

The poll conducted by SurveyUSA finds 94 percent of people in the Seattle-Tacoma area plan to cut back on going out for dinner, Nearly 90 percent say they’ve already cut back on entertainment spending, such as going to the movies.
Some save at the gas pump by staying off the road.
“Driving less. Not going to the ocean as much as we used, you know just staying home at night,” said Chris Schlatter.
Eighty-eight percent of those polled say they won't spend as much on the holidays and 59 percent say they're even canceling or changing vacation plans to save money.
And proof that people do learn from history, some say they plan to keep saving in order to be prepared for the next financial fallout.
