I-5 exit to Tacoma city center to reopen Tuesday

Traffic configurations on I-5 in Tacoma is changing again.
Traffic configurations on I-5 in Tacoma is changing again.

Northbound Interstate 5 exit 133 to the Tacoma city center will reopen Tuesday morning, and traffic will flow through a new configuration.

The northbound lanes will open in a temporary configuration while contractor crews continue working on southbound I-5 and HOV bridges. This configuration will be in place through early 2018.

As you approach the Tacoma Mall, lanes will be narrowed and placed on the recently completed roadway. A barrier will separate traffic from HOV lane construction.

Several ramp and lane closures are scheduled this week to extend the HOV lanes and replace the original surface of I-5.

Earlier this year, crews shifted I-5 lanes and closed northbound I-5 exit 133 to begin building new northbound I-5 lanes, including a new I-5 bridge.
